Fire & Smoke Damage
Even a small fire can be totally devastating to your home or business and affects a much bigger area than just the immediate area where the fire was located. Once all the firetrucks and the emergency services teams have left, not only are you left with smoke and fire damage, but in some cases you will also have water damage from the fire being put out.
We understand that this damage is overwhelming and heartbreaking, but the team at KCJ are experts in fire and smoke damage cleaning and restoration with a team of specialised restorers who will restore your home or business to pre-fire condition.
It is crucial that the fire restoration process begins immediately as the contamination from acid smoke and soot residues will continue to cause damage over time or will cause permanent damage and will not be able to be restored. Within minutes acid soot residue causes plastics to discolour, within hours acid soot causes grout in bathrooms to discolour and tarnishes uncoated metals and appliances may begin to get a yellow stain. Within days soot damaged walls may have permanent staining that cannot be removed and will require repainting after the clean-up has completed.
The process we follow when restoring fire damage can include:
- Damage Assessment
- Define Scope of Works
- Removal of Odour Source
- Soot Removal and Cleaning
- Smoke Odour Elimination & Surface Cleaning
- Fire Damaged Content Cleaning and Restoration
- Structural Restoration

What is Mould?
Mould consists of various types of fungi that grow and reproduce through tiny spores. These tiny spores travel through the air and attach themselves to damp or wet surfaces. They love damp warm and humid climates and thrive in these conditions. KCJ knows that growth of mould can be very dangerous to your health and can be the main cause of such health issues like:
- Respiratory Issues
- Skin Conditions
Once mould commences growing in your property it spreads quickly and contaminates all surfaces or materials that it touches like clothes, furniture etc
As far as KCJ is concerned, the treatment of mould contamination is a priority and the mould remediation and clean-up process needs to commence immediately. All mould problems should be dealt with by certified and qualified technicians trained in treating mould.
To ensure the correct treatment of Mould there is a very strict process that must be followed by the Technicians to ensure that the spread of mould is contained and the mould is able to be killed and removed.
We will commence the removal of mould by using the most appropriate method as per the type of mould identified, the type of surfaces contaminated, the degree of mould contamination spread and the length of time that the mould has been present.
Some minor mould issues can be addressed using the correct cleaning treatments to remove the mould. In some cases, other surfaces may be deemed as non-salvageable and the mould must be cut out and disposed of according to industry standards.
HEPA filter vacuums are used to remove mould spores from upholstery, carpets and other soft and hard surfaces that may have been exposed to the contamination.
Air Scrubbers & Hydroxyl machines are used throughout the entire cleaning process to remove the mould spores from the air and to purify the quality of the air. We clean all surfaces and materials exposed to the mould and then dispose of any non-salvageable items.
Once we have completed the mould remediation process we will then ensure that we undertake drying to the affected area to ensure that all excess moisture and water is removed from the area.
It is important that the main cause that resulted in the mould occurring has been identified and resolved to ensure there are no future no returns of mould.
