We first met KCJ on January 9th, 2016 when we returned from a vacation to find our house ruined by an upstairs water leak – around 226,000 litres flowed through the house over the course of a few days. The staff worked extremely hard in very unpleasant circumstances for several weeks. The electricity to the house had to be switched off – the only power came from emergency outlets installed in the garage. These were used to power the fans, dehumidifiers and air filters that KCJ brought in to dry the house. Conditions inside the house were horrifically hot and humid! The entire downstairs was eventually stripped back to the studs. We needed to move out for 6 months while our house was rebuilt.
It was a very difficult time, emotionally, for our family as all of our downstairs furniture was destroyed and ALL of our personal contents had to be sorted into several piles: too damaged to save, dry this out and wait and see, or wash this up it will be fine. Throughout the clean-up, the KCJ men and women who came through our house were all incredibly supportive, helpful, knowledgeable, and very hard working. What really struck us about KCJ is how kind everyone was. Even to our kids. They talked to and encouraged our kids, just as much as they encouraged us. They didn’t just “get in and do the work”. They took the time to guide us all gently and knowledgeably through the restoration process, the sorting process and the insurance process.
Without KCJ’s hard work and kindness, I honestly can’t imagine how we all would have coped with everything. Thank you Colin, Kay, Krystle and all your staff for the wonderful work you do!
